The red tennis court of Tennis Academy ASD by Forte Village becomes the stage for the exciting matches of Sardinia ITF Tournaments

From September 16 to October 27, 2024, Sardinia ITF Tournaments return to Forte Village with six combined tennis tourneys and a rich prize money of €300.000 overall.

Twelve tournaments arranged and managed by the ITF (International Tennis Federation) and a total prize money of €300.000 (€25.000 for each combined tourney), one of the most awaited sport events in Sardinia: we’re talking about the Sardinia ITF Tournaments, which for the twelfth consecutive year will be hosted on the courts of the Tennis Forte Village ASD sports academy in Santa Margherita di Pula, an award-winning resort located right next to the heavenly white beaches of South Sardinia which makes the combination of sea, relaxation, sport and adventure its signature strength.

The aim of these tournaments is to allow the promising talents of Italian and international tennis (young players who took part in the last edition were from 41 different countries) to improve their scores on ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals, the association that brings together professional tennis players from all over the world) and WTA (Women’s Tennis Association, the female equivalent of ATP) circuits, a true springboard to access prestigious international tournaments such as Sardegna Open, which between April 29 and May 5, 2024 was the scene for the action of some of the greatest tennis champions (including Italian Musetti and Arnaldi) challenging each other on the red tennis court of Monte Urpinu park in Cagliari, measuring themselves against some of the most awarded stars of the discipline.

The ITF tournaments are part of the Forte Village Tennis Project, a virtuous initiative started back in 2013 with the patronage of the Italian Federation and the support of the Sardinia Region, which over multiple editions has consolidated itself as a reference event for the whole international tennis scene.

It’s indeed a one of a kind game format, which guarantees consecutively combined tournaments in the same location with prize money of over $50.000 per week, both for men and women, and sets the ambitious goal of becoming a means for the promotion of the Sardinian territory and the enhancement of its landscape, cultural, artistic and food heritage.

Sardinia ITF Tournaments, where international tennis champions rise

With participants coming from all over the world, the Sardinia ITF Tournaments are a great opportunity to watch adrenaline-filled challenges to the last point between young tennis talents, representing an important springboard for the development of their careers.

These tournaments are in fact the entry level of professional tennis circuits and give emerging tennis players (both for male and female categories) the chance to earn points for their personal ATP (for men) and WTA (for women) world rankings, but also to be noticed by potential sponsors and coaches for their future, testing themselves in exciting matches with other young talents of the discipline.

Participationin the ITF Tournaments is open to all players who already achieved the ranking requirements or who qualified through preliminary tournaments. Often, young tennis players receive wild cards to participate in these events, special invitations granted by tournament organizers that allow them to enter directly into the main draw or qualifications, even if they still don’t have the ranking requirements, a possibility that makes it easier for new promises to enter the world of professional tennis.

Sardinia ITF Tournaments 2024 are organized by the International Tennis Federation (ITF), while the sporting event is promoted and arranged by the Tennis Forte Village ASD Sports Academy in Santa Margherita di Pula, with the patronage of the Sardinia Region.

So, in the weeks between September 16 and October 27, 2024, the thirteen tennis courts (twelve in red sand and one in cement) of Forte Village Sport Academy ASD will be the stage for one of the most prominent tennis events in the international scene, with six combined ITF Tournaments which will be held on Mondays, September 16, 23 and 30, and October 7, 14 and 21, and the last match scheduled for Sunday, October 27, in conjunction with another highly awaited sport event hosted within the Resort, that is the Forte Village Triathlon.

This is a two-day event scheduled for the weekend of October 26/27, 2024, where athletes from all over Sardinia (and beyond) will come together to take on a multidisciplinary challenge, starting with a 1.5km swim in the crystal clear waters of the most beautiful sea in Europe, a 40km bike ride along the picturesque Sardinian coastline, and finally a 10km run testing their endurance and determination.
