Duran Duran Europe 2025: the unmissable concert at the Forte Arena
Duran Duran for the very first time ever in Sardinia, with timeless hits and new sounds
The legendary British band will perform on Saturday, July 12, 2025 on the prestigious stage of Forte Arena in Santa Margherita di Pula, for an exceptional event: the fourth, last Italian date and grand finale for a European tour celebrating an over forty years long career.
Saturday, July 12, 2025 will be a date destined to enter the musical history for Sardinia. For the very first time in over four decades since their beginnings, Duran Duran will perform live on one of the most prestigious and fascinating stages of the island, the one “under the stars” of Forte Arena in Santa Margherita di Pula, in the impressive setting of Forte Village.
An unmissable event for lovers of British pop-rock and for those who want to experience an evening dedicated to great international music, including great hits – such as the timeless “Invisible”, “Notorious”, “Ordinary World”, “Girls on Film” and “The Wild Boys” – and many new songs from the latest “effort” record published, “Danse Macabre”, capable of uniting old and new fans in a unique and great music celebration.
The concert will be the grand finale for the European tour that recently has brought Simon Le Bon, Nick Rhodes, John Taylor and Roger Taylor – freshly entered the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, as well as guested the latest edition of the Sanremo Festival – to conquer the stages of the main cities of the Old Continent, for overall sixteen dates, a number that symbolically recalls all their studio albums released to date.
The band’s journey in fact began on June 6, 2025 from the Nokia Arena in Tampere, Finland, and in recent weeks it continued to other prestigious locations like the Royal Arena in Copenhagen, Denmark and the Virgin Media Park in Cork, Ireland, to then conclude in the second week of July here in Sardinia. This is going to be the last of the four Italian dates on the schedule, after the stages on June 15 and 16 at Circo Massimo in Rome, on June 18 on the seafront side at the renowned Fiera del Levante in Bari, and on June 20 at Ippodromo di San Siro in Milan, part of the prominent calendar of the IDays sponsored by Coca Cola.
Duran Duran, four decades on the rise
Born in the creative fervor of Birmingham in late Seventies, Duran Duran quickly established as one of the most innovative and influential bands of the European music scene, standing out for their multidisciplinary approach that has masterfully blended – and still continues today – music, fashion and technology, shaping a revolutionary sound and visual aesthetic that feels absolutely in line with the nonconformist spirit of the Eighties.
Their debut album, the self-titled one released in 1981, which featured iconic songs such as “Girls on Film” and “Planet Earth”, immediately caught the attention of the global audience positioning the band right away among the pioneers of the nascent new wave and synth pop movement. The next masterpieces “Rio” (1982) and “Seven and the Ragged Tiger” (1983), containing immortal gems such as “Hungry Like the Wolf”, “Save a Prayer”, “The Reflex”, “My Own Way” and the title track “Rio” itself, further consolidated their domination of the world music charts and helped define the musical and visual vibes of an entire era.
In those years, innovation was also expressed – especially – through the ability to blend music and images in video clips that went far beyond mere promotion, turning into real cultural products for telling stories and raising emotions. After all, we’re at the dawn of the newborn MTV, a channel destined to revolutionize the way of enjoying and consuming music in the following years, becoming a powerful means to launch artists and deeply influence world’s pop culture.
Overcoming the driving force of the Eighties, the band was able to reinvent itself in the Nineties and in the beginning of the twenty-first century through the cooperation with world-class producers, such as Nile Rodgers. A key collaboration for the success of the album “Notorious” (1986), which in addition to the leaving of two original members, Andy Taylor and Roger Taylor, represented a turning point in style compared to the past. The namesake single record, characterized by a funky and sophisticated music production, summarized the band’s wish for renewal, entering into the groove of a mature pop-rock contaminated by black and dance influences, while maintaining recognizable elements of their own musical identity. The seventh album, “Duran Duran – The Wedding Album” (1993), boasts masterpieces like “Ordinary World” and “Come Undone”, that give space to elegant and sophisticated sounds.
In the 2020s, the band continued to surprise and fascinate, giving life to productions of great artistic depth, just like their latest album “Danse Macabre” (2023). A work featured by dark and shady atmospheres, enriched by electronic vibes and a classic melodic lyricism, which becomes real testimony of a band that has always kept evolving, continuing to set the trends in the contemporary pop (and beyond) music scene.
It’s not surprising that over their whole career Duran Duran have collected an impressive series of awards, including over 100 million records sold, 9 gold records, 6 platinum records, 3 multi-platinum records, 18 hit singles in the United States and 20 singles that entered Top 20 in the United Kingdom, and 8 career awards (including 2 Grammy Awards, 2 Ivor Novello Awards and 2 BRITAwards). No less significant, a dedicated Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the Style Award by the Municipality of Milan, the MTV Video Visionary Award, the O2 Silver Clef Award and the ASCAP Golden Note Award.
