“Fiorella Sings Fabrizio and Ivano: Anime Salve” Live at Forte Arena
Fiorella Mannoia at Forte Arena with a tribute to De André and Fossati
The tribute concert“Fiorella sings Fabrizio and Ivano: Anime Salve”, created to mark the thirtieth anniversary of the release of the album of the same name, will take place on Saturday, August 1, 2026, in the stunning open-air theater of Santa Margherita di Pula.
The 2026 summer season of Forte Arena opens with an unmissable event for lovers of Italian songwriting: on Saturday, August 1, at 9:00 PM, the stage of the renowned open-air theater in Santa Margherita di Pula will welcome “Fiorella canta Fabrizio e Ivano: Anime Salve”, the new and highly anticipated live project by the Roman singer and actress Fiorella Mannoia.
The concert pays tribute to the poetic and musical universe of the two Genoese singer-songwriters, on the thirtieth anniversary of the release of “Anime Salve”, considered one of the highest and most complex achievements of Italian songwriting, as well as the last studio album by De André, created in collaboration with Fossati. Two artists capable, as Mannoia herself points out during the tour’s press conference, of “telling the human soul through music.” The tour will begin on June 27 at the Arena del Mare in the Porto Antico of Genoa, before traveling across Italy and arriving in Sardinia.
“Anime Salve”: between poetry, marginality, and introspection
Released in 1996, “Anime Salve” represents not only the highest and most mature point of De André’s production — the “singer of the marginalized,” capable of transforming individual stories into universal narratives — but also a work distinguished by its internal cohesion, narrative strength, and the depth of its themes. The album was born from a prolific artistic collaboration with Fossati, whose refined musical and lyrical contribution, marked by a remarkable sensitivity, helped shape an original sonic and poetic language, capable of blending melody and words in an extremely sophisticated balance.
From the meeting of these two extraordinarily aligned yet complementary artistic sensibilities emerges a unique expressive language, in which poetic words merge with a refined and attentive musical research, creating a rare balance between content and form. Within this creative dialogue, each track becomes a space for reflection, but also an emotional experience capable of engaging the listener on multiple levels.
Each song on the album can be read as a short novel set to music: stories of solitude, non-conforming identities, and social marginality that, through the poetic strength of the lyrics and the care of the arrangements, become universal experiences. The title itself, “Anime Salve”, suggests a dual meaning: lonely souls, but also saved souls. Souls that find a form of inner freedom through distance from norms and social conformity.
Among the most emblematic tracks is “Prinçesa”, a musical narrative that delicately yet courageously tells the story of an individual in search of identity, addressing themes of gender and selfhood that remain extraordinarily relevant today. “Khorakhané”, on the other hand, draws on ethnic and vocal influences to celebrate Romani culture, transforming music into a bridge between different worlds and stories. Finally, “Smisurata preghiera”, a true poetic climax of the album, intertwines choral singing with classical and modern instruments, becoming a hymn to human dignity and the search for meaning in an increasingly fragmented and complex world.
“Fiorella canta Fabrizio e Ivano: Anime Salve”: the most anticipated event of the Sardinian summer
On the stage of the arena immersed in Mediterranean vegetation and overlooking the crystal-clear sea of Santa Margherita di Pula, Fiorella Mannoia will bring to life a show that goes far beyond a simple live performance of songs, transforming music into storytelling and songs into true emotional narratives. As the artist herself states: “I will sing almost all of Anime Salve, but I will also explore the individual repertoires of the two artists,” thus offering the audience a musical journey that is coherent yet capable of surprising even the most devoted fans, in a true celebration of Italian songwriting.
The singer also shared in a recent interview: “Today, perhaps, I wouldn’t be who I am if, at fourteen, I hadn’t listened to Tutti morimmo a stento by Fabrizio De André. I still remember where I was — Rome, at a friend’s house — when I heard it for the first time. With Ivano, I share friendship and brotherhood; for me, this will be a huge responsibility, but also an opportunity to bring back songs that we deeply need today.” In this way, Mannoia aims to offer the audience a modern and personal reinterpretation of songs that have shaped the history of Italian music, connecting them to universal themes such as the search for identity, the suffering caused by marginality, love, and above all, inner freedom, in an intense, complex, and unforgettable musical, emotional, and sensory experience.
