Tuerredda Beach: a natural jewel in the heart of Southern Sardinia

The beach of Tuerredda is in a beautiful inlet between Capo Malfatano and Capo Spartivento and not far from Chia, in the Teulada area and is considered one of the most beautiful beaches of Sardinia for its clear fine sand with golden reflections and the crystalline sea water with shades ranging from blue and emerald green to deep blue.

The enchanting landscape, not unlike the Caribbean paradises, is embellished by the typical essences of the Mediterranean, especially mastic and juniper growing around the beach, creating an evocative play of contrasts between the green of the lush vegetation and the color of one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.
About 150 meters from the beach is the small island of Tuerredda where there is the homonymous and ancient tower easily accessible by swimming or, more comfortably, by canoe, while in the distance you can see the promontory of Capo Malfatano with its watchtower built by the Aragonese in the sixteenth century to defend the island from Barbary pirate attacks.
Behind the beach, in addition to unspoiled nature, you can admire the remains of the Nuragic settlement of Sa Tueredda.
Unlike many other beaches on the island, Tueredda is sheltered from the winds because of its shape, and the sea is almost always calm with a shallow sandy seabed, rich in marine fauna perfect for long and relaxing swims and families on holiday with children. Also, the coast is characterized by the alternation of small beaches separated by rocks.
The beach of Tueredda is full of services such as bathing establishments, canoe and pedal boat rental, large paid car parks also for campers, and refreshment point in addition to bars and restaurants nearby. Along the scenic provincial road 71, you can also reach the fabulous beaches of Chia as Cala Cipolla, on Giudeu, Porto Campana, Cala del Morto, sa Colonia, and Monte Cogoni.

Tuerredda Beach: how to arrive and visit it

Since summer 2020, the beach of Tueredda receives a limited number of visitors, and only 1.100 people can access it per day, of which 729 in the free beach and 371 in the bathing establishments. The people count is made by the operators of the tourist services of the municipality of Teulada. From 8:00 in the morning to 6:00 p.m. they control the entrances to the beach.
From the end of June to September, the beach is plastic and smoke-free: it is forbidden to bring disposable plastic and it is possible to smoke only in reserved areas. There is also a symbolic and optional contribution of one euro per person for those who choose the free beach.
The availability can be verified in real-time on the website of the municipality of Teulada and also, to inform drivers and avoid the queues caused by parking seekers, along the provincial road that leads to Tueredda, signs have been installed indicating the number of free places left.
The decision was introduced by the local administration to protect a unique natural paradise that is trampled every year during the summer season.
To reach the beach of Tueredda, starting from Cagliari, take highway 195 towards Teulada Pula and once arrived at the junction for Chia, go through Chia and follow the signs for Teulada.
After about 3 km, once you pass the junction of Perdalonga, you face a slight descent and on the left, you can see the entrance to the beach marked by a road sign.
